I never really thought about how much work it is to help protect what is yours until I read "fortified Ghettos." People put so much time, energy , and money to put up security fences, cameras, steel door, and even guard dogs. There is no reason why people have to do this. People need to learn respect for other peoples' things.

The question that this article raises for me is: Is securing oursevles and our stuff worth what we lose (a sense of community, a sense of trust, etc.)
